How to estimate bags of concrete
Bagged concrete is most useful for smaller pours where ready-mix delivery may not make sense. This calculator first determines the total concrete volume, applies the allowance you choose, and then converts that volume into approximate 60-lb and 80-lb bag counts.
Bag yields are approximations
Actual yield varies by product and mixing conditions. PrepMyBuild uses planning equivalents, so check the yield printed on the exact bag you plan to purchase before placing an order.
Compare bagged concrete with ready-mix volume
The calculator shows both bag counts and total cubic-yard volume. That makes it easier to recognize when a project is becoming large enough that ready-mix delivery may be worth comparing.
Metric bag sizes vary by market
For metric users, PrepMyBuild shows the concrete volume and asks you to check the local bag yield or kilogram size rather than pretending one universal bag size applies worldwide.
With a 10% allowance, the pour is about 1.09 yd³. That is roughly 49 80-lb bags or 65 60-lb bags using the planner’s yield assumptions.
