This notice describes how PrepMyBuild handles information when you use prepmybuild.com and its home-project planning tools.
Information used by the site
Analytics. PrepMyBuild uses Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits and product interactions such as calculator use, plan saves, shopping intent and contractor-quote intent. Our custom analytics events are designed not to send the project description you type, your email address, or your ZIP/postal code as event parameters.
Project descriptions. If you use the project-description feature, the text you enter may be sent through a server-side PrepMyBuild function to an AI service so it can structure measurements and identify the project type. You can avoid this processing by entering measurements manually.
Browser storage. Your region/unit preferences, editable cost assumptions and a saved plan can be stored locally in your browser. PrepMyBuild does not currently provide a cloud account or server-side project library.
Third-party services
PrepMyBuild is hosted on Netlify. Usage analytics are provided by Google Analytics. The project-description feature can use OpenAI through a server-side integration. These providers may process technical information needed to deliver their services under their own terms and privacy practices.
Shopping and contractor features
Retailer affiliate links and contractor lead submission are not currently active. Opening those options may be counted as an anonymous product-intent event, but PrepMyBuild does not currently transmit contact information to a contractor partner. This notice will be updated before any partner flow begins collecting or sharing additional information.
Your choices
You can enter measurements manually instead of using the project-description feature. You can clear locally stored PrepMyBuild preferences and plans using your browser’s site-data controls. Browser privacy tools or extensions may also limit analytics requests.
Changes to this notice
PrepMyBuild may update this notice as the service evolves, including when new commercial or account features are introduced. The updated date below will change when material revisions are made.
